Dentistry is increasingly oriented towards prevention and iTOP supports this vision. Applying the knowledge and experience provided in this course will set your dental practice and department apart. Our certified iTOP team will show you firsthand how the patient feels in your dental chair. iTOP was developed at the University of Hamburg by clinical trainer MU Dr Jiří Sedelmayer and is taught annually in more than 0 countries around the world. iTOP Introductory is the entry level.

This seminar will provide you with tools to administer iTOP prophylaxis to your patients in a manner tailored to their individual needs, evidence- based solutions to address management and patient motivation are reviewed. iTOP incorporates practical, hands-on learning and a focus on the motivation needed to implement this knowledge on a daily basis so that your patients can be set up for a lifetime of oral health.

Course Objectives:

By the end of this presentation, the learner will be able to:

• Identify the ITOP Concept

• Know how to proactively Calibrate interdental brushes and flossing (loop technique)

• Explain Interdental care to patients more effectively

• Discuss Toothpaste and mouthwash efficacy in the oral cavity

• List preventative measures to reduce periodontal disease

• Know how to explain the Bass technique by practicing the Hands-on Bass technique

Futun Alkhalifah BSDH, MS King Saud University – Futun N. Alkhalifah, BSDH, MS, is a senior dental hygienist, researcher, and lecturer at the dental health department at King Saud University (KSU), KSA, with over nine years of teaching and clinical experience in dental hygiene. Ms. Alkhalifah is a certificated ITOP educator by Curaden academy, enabling the application of the ITOP concept in academia and clinical practice. In academia, Ms. Alkhalifah is working to introduce the ITOP concept in the dental hygiene curriculum as she is a member of the curriculum development committee of the advanced dental hygiene program at the Saudi Commission for Health Specialists. In clinical practice, her approach is providing patient-centered care via ITOP to help patients value and practice oral health care for a lifetime. She has extensive experience in organizing continuing education events as she is a member of the continuing education committees of the Saudi Dental and Dental Hygiene Societies. Currently, she is a Ph.D. student in the Health Services Research Program focusing on improving access to oral health care among low-income populations. Ms. Alkhalifah has authored journal publications and has been invited as a speaker to national and international events.

Dr.Viktoriia Gabal is a periodontist, lector and researcher in periodontal diseases and prophylaxis line, used to work as an assistant professor at Dentistry Department at PL Shupyk National Healthcare University for 10 years, where she’s been given lectures on periodontal and peri implant diseases for dentists on post-graduate qualified courses. Viktoriia is a member of British Society of Periodontology and Implant Dentistry and European Federation of Periodontology. She graduated Dentistry Faculty of Bogomolets National Medical University in 2007 Kyiv, Ukraine. She lectures regularly on topics in periodontology, peri-implantitis and prophylaxis field on international and local events. Viktoriia has 10 publications in international profile journals and 1 published book for dental assistant in Ukrainian language. Work as a periodontist at a private clinic in Kyiv for 15 years. She has been an iTOP Lecturer since 2015 and created many ITOP events in Ukraine for dental hygienist and dentists

Shannon M. Nanne, RDH is The Director of Professional Relations & Education, leading all educational activities with dental professionals for Curaden in the United States - strengthening partnerships with dentists, dental hygiene schools and other professional partners. With extensive experience in dental education, Shannon started her career in executive oral care upon her graduation from the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Dental Medicine in 1994. Since then, Shannon has authored scholarly pieces in many industrious outlets including RDH Magazine, Dentistry IQ, In Focus and Dimensions of Dental Hygiene. Shannon has served as a key opinion leader for several corporations and associations, notably holding an executive board position with the Cleveland Dental Hygiene Association for over 15 years.
